

Naomi Agatha Clare affectionately called “Nana Mama” passed away at age 90, on August 15, 2016 peacefully at her home. She was born on May 15, 1926 in Saint Catherine Jamaica, W.I. the second of two children to Samuel and Rosetta Clare, who predeceased her. She is survived by her daughter Dorothy Vickers, son Earl Marson, and son-in-law Glendon Vickers, two grandchildren, Desmond and Vinton, two daughter-in-law’s Linda and Austria and six great-children, Jessica, Morgan, Chelsea, Jordan, Reece, and Julia. She is also survived by her sister Lucilda Bennett, several nieces and nephews, and a host of relatives and friends. She was also predeceased by a daughter Winnifred Porteous. Naomi was a fiercely independent, determined and spiritual woman. In seeking a better life for herself and her family, she became an entrepreneur in Jamaica building a grocery business and owning taxis.
She was an active member of the First Baptist Church where she served as an Usher, Missionary and a Deaconess for many years. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Renovation Fund in her name.There will be a viewing held on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 31 Arch St. from 4pm to 8pm. A funeral service will be held on August 25, 2016 at 11 am at First Baptist Church, 10 Northfield Street, Greenwich, Ct.
