She was a resident of Greenwich, Connecticut for 35 years, and spent her final years in Jupiter, Florida. She passed away on November 25, 2022 at the age of 88.
She was the daughter of Angus R. and Marie MacDonald. Phyllis enjoyed working alongside her father both at the family clothing store, D.D. MacDonald Ltd, and when he served as a Member of Parliament in Ottawa, Ontario.
She was a Champion Scottish Highland dancer throughout the Maritime Provinces and New England who even graced the pages of National Geographic in her kilt. She enjoyed many trips back to Nova Scotia to celebrate the Highland Games during her lifetime.
Phyllis’ Catholic faith was very important to her. She was a gracious matriarch who enjoyed spending time with her numerous friends and precious family. She loved to sing, dance, and laugh.
She will be remembered for her timeless elegance, immaculate style and poise. She had an ethereal quality that could brighten up any room or heart. She was very generous towards everyone she knew.
Phyllis is survived by her beloved husband Ronnie, her children Marie, David, Douglas, Jeanne and Steven, her sister Moira and her many grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Father Donald, Ronnie DD, John R. and infant sister Annette.
Friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, December 2nd from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 31 Arch Street, Greenwich, Connecticut. A Catholic Prayer Service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel. Phyllis will be laid to rest at Putnam Cemetery, 35 Parsonage Road, Greenwich, CT.
