Richard Velde Bergstresser, 91, of Greenwich, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at his home on May 25, 2025.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, on May 25, 1934, Richard was the son of the late John and Idaleen Bergstresser. He lived a long and wonderful life, full of travel, joy, and friends. Richard graduated from Pomona College in 1956 and served two years in the U.S. Army. He later worked as a mathematician at IBM and notably served as the First Selectman of Greenwich from 2001 to 2003.
He is survived by his wife, Jean, his brother Ken, his nieces Barbara and Ellen, and his nephews John, Robert, Christopher, and Scott.
Richard's ashes will be interred at Round Hill Community Church. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
