He is survived by the loves of his life, Juliette, 25, Jolie, 22, and his wife Laura and his mother Sylvia.
Richard radiated health and joy with his big, genuine smile and passion for golf, long walks on the water with his beloved goldendoodle Bella, and mostly his joy and pride from his loving daughters. Somehow, he effortlessly paired the calmest disposition with sharp intellect and biting wit, and had the truest love for life imaginable. His positivity, equanimity, and heart of gold are otherworldly, and his soul, lessons, and energy will be a guide and inspiration to all who loved him. Richard lit up the world for his loved ones with humor and stand-up-comedian-level impressions, which was passed along to his precious girls. He was both of his daughters’ “favorite person in the world,” and they had many opportunities to share this with him throughout this past year.
Richard was an incredible father. His generosity, pure kindness, well-articulated wisdom, up-for-anything nature, and distinctive humor that made everything better, made him the kind of person that his daughters always wanted to be around. His sheer class exuded in his parenting, and he radiated and incited joy. Albeit for not nearly long enough, he was able to share that joy with his daughters and the people in their lives throughout many seasons. His family always came first, and anyone who knew his daughters knew the strength of their bond with their father.
Richard was a brilliant analyst who started his career on the broker-dealer side of the market in bond trading. He worked for Solomon Brothers, and later at a small number of well-known firms including Paine Webber, and Chase before being recruited into the investor side of the market. There he worked for several firms including Greenwich Capital, Moore Capital and most recently ExodusPoint Capital. His natural curiosity and high intelligence made him uniquely successful in a broad array of financial products, and varied market conditions. Richard's questioning mind brought him to investment ideas that spanned from distressed trading to macro trading. Although he was quiet on a typically noisy trading desk, Richard was always the one working on the most interesting, often overlooked trades, but which had the greatest potential. His equally unique sense of humor would fire one-liners that would be quoted again and again by his colleagues weeks and even years later. Richard had a knack for putting great ideas forward without ever asking to take credit for them.
Richard will forever be a force of peace in our lives, and our love for him will continue to permeate everything we do, and are.
