Ron Nicholas Casella

Ron Nicholas Casella, a lifelong Greenwich resident, proud United States Marine Corps veteran, accomplished boxer, devoted husband, and beloved father, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, at the age of 90.

Born on April 11, 1936, in Greenwich, Connecticut, Ron was the son of Nicholas Joseph Casella and Marie Kathleen Cashmere Casella. Raised in Greenwich, he developed an early passion for athletics and competition through the Greenwich YMCA, where he founded the YMCA boxing program. Through hard work, discipline, and determination, Ron became a three-time Golden Gloves Champion and achieved his dream of becoming a professional boxer. Shortly thereafter, while serving as Residence Director at the Greenwich YMCA, he met the love of his life, Elissa. Together, they built a life centered on love, family, loyalty, and perseverance, sharing many happy years together as husband and wife.

Ron proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1954 to 1962, attaining the rank of Private First Class. Following his military service, he dedicated himself to serving both his community and the people around him. He worked for Electrolux and later continued his leadership at the Greenwich YMCA, where he positively impacted countless young people and families throughout the Greenwich community. His commitment to mentorship, leadership, and service reflected the values he carried throughout his life.

Ron will be remembered for his strength, resilience, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family. Whether sharing stories from his boxing days, offering guidance, or simply spending time with loved ones, he brought warmth, humor, and wisdom to every room he entered. Of all his accomplishments—as a Marine, boxer, mentor, community leader, husband, and father—he was proudest of his family.

Ron is survived by his loving wife, Elissa Marie Casella, and his devoted son, Ron Nicholas Casella Jr., who was the pride and joy of his life. Throughout his later years, Ron was blessed by the steadfast love and devotion of his son, Ron Nicholas Casella Jr., whose care, companionship, and support reflected the deep bond they shared.

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 31 Arch Street, Greenwich, Connecticut 06830. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Church, 178 Greenwich Avenue, Greenwich, Connecticut 06830.

Burial services will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Cemetery, 35 Parsonage Road, Greenwich, Connecticut 06830.

The family finds comfort in knowing that Ron's legacy lives on through the many lives he touched as a Marine, boxer, mentor, husband, father, and friend. He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever loved.
