

Salli Reid Garrick, a 50 year resident of Greenwich, Connecticut died Friday, May 6, 2011 in Greenwich Hospital after a valiant battle with breast cancer. Born in Chicago, Illinois, March 10, 1931, to Dr. Marie Cooney and Donald Ferguson Reid.
Salli graduated Holy Spirit High School in Atlantic City, in New Jersey where she won the title of Miss Boardwalk in the Miss Atlantic City Beauty Contest. She then went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts with a major in History, and a minor in English and Philosophy from Good Council College in White Plains, New York.
Salli worked for American Airlines, first in sales and then in flight. She married the late, Captain Frank P. Lennon, June 22, 1957 and moved to Greenwich in 1959 where she raised four children. Salli married the late John H. Garrick, November 8, 1980.
Salli was a realtor for almost 30 years, most recently at Coldwell Banker. She was a graduate Realtor Institute, GRI and Certified Residential Specialist. She was also a member of the Greenwich Board of Realtors, Connecticut Association of Realtors, National Association of Realtors and the Greenwich Multiple Listing Service.
A lover of the arts, Salli was deeply devoted to the Bruce Museum in Greenwich. She was an active, vibrant, and dedicated docent for ten years and in 2008 she was recognized as Docent of the Year. She was granted the award for her work leading school and adult groups in the museum and acting as a museum ambassador to the public. “Salli Garrick is a lively, enthusiastic, and eager person with an insatiable appetite for learning as well as a propensity for sharing knowledge,” said Jennifer Baradino, manager of the school and tour services at the Bruce Museum of Arts and Sciences. “Salli goes above and beyond the call of docent duty and always does it graciously and reliably.”
As an ambassador for the Museum she participated in the Museum Speakers Bureau Program, an outreach program for the Greenwich Community about changing exhibitions. She considered her time with the Bruce Museum as an opportunity to learn and teach at the most wonderful crown jewel of Greenwich.
She was a member of the Greenwich Arts Council, Bush-Holley House, the Greenwich Library, The Pickwick Society, the Cotton Club of Christ Church and the Audubon Society.
Salli was preceded in death by her son, Frank P. Lennon Jr. She is survived by
her son Paul Reid Lennon of Redondo Beach, California, and two daughters Heather Lennon Howard of Norwalk, Connecticut, and Nell Lennon Williams of Vienna, Virginia; three grandchildren Gretchen Burns of Norwalk, Connecticut, Erin Leigh Williams and Owen Reid Williams both of Vienna, Virginia; her brother, Donald F. Reid of San Francisco, California; her step daughter Veronica Garrick Cavanaugh of Dunwoodie Georgia, and her three children Andrew, Amy, and Jennifer. Salli was a devoted mother and grandmother and was an especially dear friend. She will be remembered for her kindness and her joy of life and will be missed terribly.
Her family will receive friends between 4:00 and 6:00 PM, Sunday, May 8th at Gallagher Funeral Home at 31 Arch Street, Greenwich, CT 06830. A memorial mass will be held 11:00 AM Monday, May 9th at St Paul’s RC Church at 84 Sherwood Avenue, Greenwich, CT 06831. A reception will follow.
