

Born in 1929 in France, he endured four years under German occupation during World War II before the liberation of his hometown in 1944.
After service as a cavalry officer in the French Army, in 1951 he immigrated to the United States, was drafted into the US Army, and became a US citizen upon graduation from Fort Benning. He served in Korea and completed a 37 year military career, retiring as a Colonel in the US Army.
Serge graduated from NYU and had a distinguished 32 year international career with IBM based in New York, Tokyo, and Paris and working in Southeast Asia and the Middle East in market planning and global operations. He retired in 1988.
He then earned a Master of Arts in Religion from Yale University Divinity School and taught Bible seminars throughout the French speaking world including France, Quebec and Africa.
Serge remained very active in retirement in cultural, religious, historical, and veterans organizations. He was President of the New England chapter of “Le Souvenir Français” and Chair of the US for the Washington Rochambeau Revolutionary Route as well as an active member of the Alliance Française of Greenwich.
For his lifetime of work promoting the alliance between France and the United States, he was awarded the National Order of the Legion of Honor by the French Government in 2019.
Serge was first married to Irene Brofos, a Norwegian with Lao heritage, with whom he had three daughters, Claudette, Suzette and Maud. After Irene’s death, he married Marilyn Parker in 1982. She has two children, Douglas and Jeanne from her first marriage. Together Serge and Marilyn have ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He will be remembered for his intellect, discipline, global perspective, unwavering faith, and deep love for his family.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 4th from 4-7pm at the Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 31 Arch Street in Greenwich, CT 06830.
Church Service on Friday, June 5th at Grace Evangelical Free Church, 241 Courtland Avenue in Stamford, CT 06906 starting at 11am.
Interment Ceremony on Saturday, June 6th at 10am at Flushing Cemetery, 163-06 46th Avenue in Flushing, NY 11358 in Section C near the main entrance.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the National Parks Service, Washington-Rochambeau Route, Le Souvenir Français or Grace Evangelical Free Church in Stamford.
