Born on November 26, 1933, in Hanna, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of John A. Crowder and Gracie Etta (Green) Crowder. Betty devoted many years of service as a telephone operator before retiring. She was a faithful member of Goddard United Methodist Church and was also a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Betty is survived by her two sons, Matt Nicely Jr. and his wife, Teresa, of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Mark Nicely of Daytona Beach, Florida; three daughters, Sheryl Williams and her husband, Rick, of Greenwood, Arkansas, Kathy Pipkin and her husband, Wayne, of Gentry, Arkansas, and Kimberly Anderson and her husband, Danny, of Harlingen, Texas; one sister, Pauline Monroe of Fort Smith, Arkansas; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Matt “Eddie” Nicely Sr.; her friend, John Little; her parents; her sister, Chris Milligan; and two other siblings.
A funeral service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood, with interment to follow at Fort Smith National Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Serving as pallbearers will be Stephen Pipkin, Nick White, Adam Nicely, Anthony Crouse, Jordan Motes, and Phillip Milligan.
