Betty Lou (Lowder) Scharbor was born in Magazine, Arkansas on October 18, 1940. She passed away peacefully on December 10, 2025 in Booneville, Arkansas. She was a faithful member of the Washburn Church of Christ since 1959 until her death and has left a legacy of being a Proverbs 31 woman. Betty was employed at the Booneville Democrat in the early years.
As she became a wonderful mother and homemaker, she also became a caring babysitter for several children over the years, whom she dearly loved. Betty was quite gifted in several areas; sewing, embroidery, crochet and she created many beautiful quilts in her life.
She could be caught working crossword puzzles most any day and she was a list maker. Each Halloween for many years she kept a list of all the kids that visited her and what costumes they wore. She absolutely adored children.
One of Betty’s greatest joys in her life was being “Granny” to her three grandchildren. She always loved being with her family, but when those grands were around, she was truly in her element. She spent countless hours being the best granny she could possibly be. She was the true epitome of what a grandmother should be. She gave herself the name of GG when she became a great grandmother, and she took great pride in that next role in her life. She could never seem to love on those great grand babies enough. GG would be so very proud of all seven of her greats today.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Harold Ray “Sam” Scharbor; her parents, Herman and Morene Lowder and her brother, Larry Lowder.
She leaves behind a son, Tommy Scharbor and wife, Elizabeth of Greenwood; a daughter, Sandra Britton and husband, Bill of Booneville; a granddaughter, Audree Shelton and husband, Ryan of Greenwood; a grandson, Mitchell Scharbor and wife, Rachel of Fort Smith; a granddaughter, Shelby Britton of Greenwood; her great grandchildren, Bryson and Aurora Cook, James and Madelyn Shelton, Sam and Stone Scharbor and Scarlett Britton-Eisman.
She also leaves behind two sisters-in-law, Juanita Lowder and Charleen Bell and husband, George, along with several nieces and nephews, her sister-by-choice, Vickie Webb and her special children that she baby sat, Ray Webb, Hilary Webb Huneycutt, Tim Dedmon, Nikki Dedmon Taylor and Cassie Elmore Cathey.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, December 16 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Washburn Cemetery. Viewing will begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, before the service.
