Bobby Dean Robinson, Jr., 70, of Greenwood, Arkansas, formerly of Burlington, MA and New Ipswich, NH, passed away Friday, March 21, 2025 at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas, with his loving family by his side.
Born in Fort McClellan, AL on October 13, 1954 to Bobby Dean, Sr. and Elizabeth Ann (Hill) Robinson, he was raised in various states alongside his siblings. After high school, he proudly served in the U.S. Army. He was stationed at Fort Devens, MA for the military where he met the love of his life, Susan. On August 20, 1977, just less than a year after they met, they were married. They lived in Woburn for a short time after marriage before finally settling down in Burlington to raise their family.
Bob spent many weekends and summer weeks with his boys at Cub Scout and Boy Scout activities. He enjoyed being outdoors and would take his boys fishing at the local reservoir and spend summer vacations camping with his family.
After retiring from the military, Bob pursued a career in software engineering, working at several different companies in his time. He was always excited to learn something new and you’d often find him reading or researching things, acquiring various skills in life through his own initiative. If there was someone guaranteed to know an interesting fact about any topic, it was Bob.
In his personal life, there was nothing Bob couldn’t teach himself to do, which showed through in various organizations and hobbies he enjoyed. He was a very active member of the Massachusetts Rifle Association, serving on their Board of Directors and as an instructor with the Safety and Education Program. He was also a Certified Emergency Medical Technician and obtained his ham radio operating license in his free time. When the good weather came along, you could find Bob outside taking his beloved dog Layla on walks, gardening, enjoying a nice cigar, and watching birds that visited the various bird feeders he had spread around the yard. He also enjoyed late nights and weekends playing video games with his brother James.
He was known as “Ampy” and “Fuzzy” by those who loved him most. He loved his grandchildren dearly and would always have a good joke, a new gadget, or a treasure box for them to enjoy. He was one to always have a pocket knife, flashlight, and pen is his pocket. He was a proud American and happiest when he was around his family and loved ones.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Susan Robinson (Greenwood, AR); one son, Greg Robinson and his wife Lauren (Glenmoore, PA); one brother, James Robinson and wife Carla (Seminole, FL); and five grandchildren, Casey Robinson, Cadence Robinson, Zoey Robinson, Madeline Robinson and Benjamin Robinson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Chris Robinson and Brad Robinson, and one sister, Sylvia Sancho. He is also survived by many dear relatives and friends.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
