Brenda Sue Sharp, was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend with endless devotion, who was born on December 13, 1943 in Midland, Arkansas to Paul and Vivian Sutter. Raised in Number 6 Camp as a hard-working, compassionate, and tell-it-like-it-is gal, alongside her brother, Darrell Wayne Sutter, she grew into a talented woman to be admired.
She was preceded in death by the greatest love of her life, Troy Sharp, whom she met in 1956 and took his last name on August 5, 1962. They had two sons, Kevin Wayne and Keith Allen. The oil fields took their little family on a whirlwind of adventures before the coal mines led them to settle back in Hartford, Arkansas at Number 6 Camp. Kevin married Teresa Lewis, who made Brenda a grandmother of three grandchildren: Brittney Roper and husband, Wesley, Andrew Sharp and wife, Jessica and Philip Sharp, all who reside in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She also has two great-grandchildren, Kevin Jeremiah Roper and Savvy Jane Sharp. The love she gave to her family was extraordinary and deep, sometimes made up of support, worries, and sacrifices but a lifetime of memories that always included lots of good eats, laughter, dogs, and time in the great outdoors. When she wasn’t with her family, she spent most of her adult life working as an office manager for doctors throughout the River Valley, and the last 12 years as an assistant manager of the Dollar General in Mansfield, Arkansas. During those times, many of her co-workers became close friends that she cherished greatly. Always seeking to put others before herself, never afraid to speak her mind, or defend those she loved, Brenda was someone you wanted on your side.
Even though she’s flown away, taking her smile and her touch, her memories are now our keepsakes. Just as the butterfly is nature’s reminder that even in grief there is hope - She soars on. God has her in His keeping and we hold her in our hearts; sadly missed but never forgotten.
