Britt Lane Varner, 64, of Conway, Arkansas died Saturday, July 18, 2026, in his home. He graduated from Southside High School in 1980. During his 8 years and 9 months of service in the U.S. Army, he spent 2 years in the DMZ between North and South Korea. After years in the oil industry, he later cherished his time at Walmart as a facilitator and traveled over 500,000 safe miles as a private fleet driver.
Britt loved his Corvette, the Arkansas Razorbacks, Cave City watermelons, and the beaches of Navarre. He filled every room with light and laughter and he never once met a stranger. To know Britt was to love him. He will forever be remembered for his humor and kindness.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 24, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Witcherville. Friends are welcome to honor Britt’s memory by wearing their favorite Razorback attire. Visitation with the family will be Thursday from 5 - 7 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home in Greenwood. Private burial will be at the Fort Smith National Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Merle Varner; two brothers, Lance Varner and Scott Varner; and grandparents, Urban and Ora Varner and Georgia and Jarrett Milam.
He is survived by his loving wife, Diana Varner and her mother, Ruth Rhinehart; two daughters, Shelby Varner and husband, David Young of Conway and Kayla Frederick and wife, Kira of Fayetteville; two sons, Zack Frederick of Paris and Jacob Carter of Fort Smith and one sister, Amy Reather of Huntington. “G-Daddy” is also survived by his six grandchildren, Lydia Carter, Emily Weston, Zoey Frederick, Kaden Frederick, Katie Hungate, and Colton Hungate, his dogs, Dude and Ozzie, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Curtis Varner, Cody Varner, Landan Rether, Jacob Varner, David Young and Zach Frederick.
