Calvin Lowrey Alley

Calvin Lowrey Alley began life on earth September 6, 1949 in Little Rock, AR, departing on January 27, 2017. Calvin ws a retired furniture designer and manufacturer, and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Fort Smith Calvin enjoyed hunting, fishing, creating and building things, but most of all, boating on Lake Ouachita. He graduated from Northside High School of Fort Smith in 1967, where he was involved in numerous clubs and activities, including President of the Key Club and a Delegate for Boys State. Calvin graduated from Kendall College of Art and Design of Grand Rapids, MI in 1973 with a Bachelor’s degree in Furniture Design. He immediately put his degree to use with employment a J. Gordon Perlmutter Associates in Piscataway, NJ. Upon returning to Fort Smith, he worked for Garrison Furniture, Southalnd Furniture, Kay Chair, Baldwin Piano and Kawai Corp. He ended his working career by teaching woodworking at Northside High School.

Calvin is survived by his wife, Marilyn L Alley of 31 years; sons, Christopher L Alley and girlfriend Jennifer Forrest; Duayne S Alley and girlfriend, Rhiana Keiser; Charles J Alley and wife, Michele Alley; his mother Johnnie B Alley; sister, Trude A Moore and husband Dennis; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and other family members, as well as may longtime friends. Calvin is predeceased by his father, Charles Pinckney Alley and his brother, Gary Lee Alley.

The family wishes to say thank you to all the friends for their prayers and foods. We especially want to thank Heather Montgomery for her loving care of Calvin in his last days.

Memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Fort Smith Tuesday, January 31 at 2pm. Family will greet friends following the service in the parlor of the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Northside High School Class of 1967, c/o Dixie Geren, 413 N 53rd St, Fort Smith AR 72903 or Fountain of Youth Adult Daycare Center, 2801 McKinley Ave, Fort Smith AR 72908. Cremation is under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home.
