Carl Clifton Jones

Carl Clifton Jones, 97, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2026 in his home. He was born January 20, 1929 in Sebastian County, Arkansas to Carl Hobart and Ora (Griffith) Jones. He was a retired auto mechanic for Sears, member of Southside Free Will Baptist Church in Fort Smith and veteran of the U.S. Army.

He is survived by one son, Melvin Keith Jones; three daughters, Wanda Coleen Cruz, Cheryl Jean Jones and Carla Christine Jones; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Aftin Lea Jones, three brothers, Bobby, Raymond and Lloyd Jones and one sister, Betty Musgrove.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Monday, October 26 at Southside Free Will Baptist Church in Fort Smith with burial at Dustin Cemetery in Dustin, Oklahoma under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Viewing will be Sunday from 4 – 6 p.m. at the church.
