Carol F. Barnes, 80, of Huntington, Arkansas passed away Friday, October 31, 2025 in his home. He was born June 23, 1945 in Midland, Arkansas to Willie and Ella (Slate) Barnes. He started off working in the coal mines and later became an independent truck driver. He was a member of Westside Pentecostal Church in Huntington. Carol loved God and people and he enjoyed playing the guitar and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Barnes; three sons, Dawayne Barnes of Huntington, Mark Thomas and wife, Gail of Greenbrier and Steven Thomas and wife, Lisa of Florence, AL; two sisters, Betty Hattabaugh of Fort Smith and Joyce Repass of Dennis, TX and five grandchildren, Alyssa Barnes, Eli Barnes, Addy Barnes, Matt Thomas and Sophie Thomas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Tony Barnes, a brother, Charles Barnes and five sisters, Mavis Ulery, Ruth Smith, Evelyn Winfrey, his twin sister, Carolyn Coldiron and Debbie Martindale.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Thursday, November 6 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Hartford Memorial Park. Viewing will be Wednesday from 1 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 5 – 7 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Dawayne Barnes, Mark Thomas, Matt Thomas, Jeremy Ward, Davey Coats and Dave Coats. Honorary pallbearer will be Stan Hattabaugh.
