Cathy Slate Castleberry

Cathy Castleberry, 71, of Huntington, AR passed away Thursday, July 7, 2011 in a Fort Smith hospital. She was a homemaker, former employee of Baldor Manufacturing, and attended Shady Grove Free Will Baptist Church. Catherine was born a coal miner’s daughter on May 19, 1940 in Midland to the late Everett and Melba Slate, where she learned that giving and helping others were the most important things in life. She loved her family very deeply by always being there in every way possible. Cathy was a Hartford High School graduate of the class of 1957.

Survivors include her husband, Tommy of the home; a daughter, Darlene George of Mansfield, AR; four sons, Gene Elmore of Mansfield, Kenny Elmore and wife, Belinda of Witcherville, AR, Toby Williams and wife, Tina of Pocola, OK, and Cody Williams of Mansfield; a brother, Carrol Slate of Mansfield; twelve grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, July 11, 2011 at the Huntington Assembly of God Church with interment at Huntington Cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Elmore, Michael Rolewicz, Justin Castleberry, Brandon Barber, Chris Hancox, Danny Slate, Carrol Barnes, and William “Button” Slate.

Viewing will be from 1:00 to 9:00 P.M., Sunday at the funeral home where the family will visit with friends from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M.
