

Charles Wesley Gasaway of Huntington passed away Saturday, February 11, 2017 in his home. He was born March 9, 1924 in Huntington, Arkansas to Joe Ervin and Stella Rose Gasaway. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. Charles also enjoyed gardening, raising cattle, his church and attending Blues Festivals with his son Jay and niece Allison. He was the retired Superintendent of the Sebastian County Road Department after 33 years of service. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Juanita; one son, Steven Charles; his parents, Joe and Stella; one brother, Gene and one sister, Dorothy Allen.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Thursday, February 16 at Dayton Church of Christ with burial at Huntington Cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Larry Bridges will be officiating. Viewing will be Wednesday, from 4 – 6 p.m. at Dayton Church of Christ, where the family will visit with friends.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda Maness and Charla Bolen both of Greenwood and Jo Anne McGriff of Huntington; one son, Jay Gasaway of Witcherville; nine grandchildren, Catherine Ollivier, Brandon Cassidy, Jacqueline Humphries, Matthew Harp, Jay and Joel Gasaway, Eric McGriff, Zach Bolen and Aaron McGriff; six great grandchildren; one brother, Jack Gasaway of Hartford. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to his caregiver, Ms. Mary Edwards, the Mansfield SRCA and the long-term support of the VA Primary Care Team-Three.
Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be David Sutterfield, Mike and Jeff Brewer, Tom Dacus, Larry and Peggy Wagoner and Larry Davis.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to Dayton Church of Christ, 2230 E. Hwy. 252, Huntington, AR 72940-9108.
