Covenia Shackelford Barnes

Covenia Shackelford Barnes, 87, of Hartford, Arkansas passed away Sunday, June 24, 2018 in a Fort Smith hospital. She was a homemaker and member of the Hartford United Methodist Church. She was Mom, Grandma and friend to everyone she met.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Friday, June 29 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Hartford Memorial Park. Viewing will be Thursday from 2 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 5 – 7 p.m.

She was survived by her five children, Gene Shackelford and wife, Darlene of Cameron, Lucendia Stamper and husband, Rick of Lavaca, Dennis Shackelford and wife, Debbie of Cameron, Dwayne Shackelford and wife, Polly of Midland and Scottie Shackelford of Hartford; one daughter-in-law, Sharlet Shackelford of Hartford; seventeen grandchildren, thirty-nine great grandchildren, twelve great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and was “Grandma” to many. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Harmon E. Shackelford and Hoover Barnes; one son, Leonard Shackelford and one grandson, Richard Shackelford.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
