Donald Ray Bull, 62, of Greenwood, Arkansas passed away Saturday, December 18, 2021. Don was born on November 30, 1959 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He is a graduate of Greenwood High School, Class of 1978. He received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Arkansas Tech University. Don worked for Mickle Wagner Coleman, Inc. for 29 years, currently serving as Director of Field Services. Don provided construction observation services during the Lake Fort Smith Dam and Reservoir Enlargement Project at Mountainburg, as well as the relocation of Lake Fort Smith State Park. Most recently, he was instrumental in the initial phases of development and routing of a 48-inch water transmission line from Mountainburg that will eventually cross the Arkansas River into Fort Smith.
Don was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandpa, friend and servant to all. He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling to various destinations, including Canada, Alaska and twice to Africa. He was a faithful member of Greenwood First Baptist Church for nearly 50 years, teaching Sunday School for 38 years. He was diligent to influence young men through numerous ministries throughout his life, passionately fulfilling Proverbs 27:17 – As iron sharpens iron, one man sharpens another.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Loraine Bull and a son, Blake Bull. He is survived by his wife Barbie Bull; son, Derek Bull and wife Jessica of Greenwood; daughter, Tamara McKown and husband Austin of Van Buren; sister, Milinda Wisdom and husband Steve of Charleston; two grandchildren, Harper Bull, Liam McKown, and happily expecting a third, Lucas Ray McKown in April; niece, Maci Poston and nephew, Mason Wisdom.
Funeral service will be 9 a.m. Thursday, December 23 at Greenwood First Baptist Church with burial at Oak Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Viewing will be Wednesday from 2 – 7 p.m. at Greenwood First Baptist Church, where the family will be present from 5 – 7 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Austin McKown, Mason Wisdom, David Gregory, Mike Corley, Jesse Anderson and Joe Brewer. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Wisdom, Larry Corkern and Richard Hickey.
