Doug and his wife, Laura had recently celebrated their 40th anniversary; they met at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas and called Greenwood, Arkansas home for most of their time together.
Doug was love, an embodiment of God's commandment that we love our neighbors as ourselves; he met no stranger and valued "quality family time" above all else and everyone was family to Doug. To know Doug was to love Doug.
Doug was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Cooke. He is survived by his wife, Laura Cooke; his two sons, Mac Cooke and wife, Kristen of Conway and Marcus Cooke and wife, Tiffany of Fayetteville; his daughter, Sarah Terry and husband, Patrick of Springdale; two grandchildren, Maren and Rowan; his father, Stacy Cooke and wife, Ann; three siblings, Anne Christian, Carol Mettlen and husband, Jimmy and Kyle Cooke and wife, Ginger and many nieces and nephews, whom he loved deeply.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Friday, September 17 at Greenwood First Baptist Church with interment at Liberty Cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Viewing will be Thursday from 1 – 7 p.m. at Greenwood First Baptist Church, where the family will visit with friends from 5 – 7 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Mac Cooke, Marcus Cooke, Patrick Terry, Jason Bradley, Todd Green, Tyler Green, Adam McMahan and Ethan Mettlen. Honorary pallbearers will be Steven Lumbley, Richard Albrecht Jr., Lance Armstrong, Richard Rhodes and the Diboll High School Class of 1976.
