Douglas “Doug” Rogers, 78, of Huntington, Arkansas passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2022 in Fort Smith, Arkansas from complications related to COPD. After receiving excellent care at Baptist Health, Doug passed peacefully in his sleep.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents (Howard and Imogene) and his wife (Peggy N. Moore). Doug is survived by his two sons, Dwayne Eacret and Tommy Eacret and wife, Dawn, granddaughters, Jessie, Becca and Fel and three great-grandchildren.
Doug was born in Bokoshe, Oklahoma on April 2, 1943. He lived in many places growing up and often spoke fondly of his time in Bakersfield, California. In his early years, Doug traveled the country as a lineman with his family and helped expand the country’s energy infrastructure. A few years later, he was building limousines for Armbruster, which led to his hobby of building rat rods. Over the years, Doug had a variety of careers in the industries of hospitality (motel manager), food service (restaurant owner/operator), transportation (independent truck driver), lumber (boiler operator), and healthcare services (boiler operator). He retired in 2005 and devoted the following years to spending time with his beloved Peggy, building rat rods, and collecting coins.
Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday, February 9 from 5 - 7 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home in Greenwood. There will not be a formal service. Burial will be at Huntington Cemetery.
