Emma J. Feimster Smith, 79, of Huntington, Arkansas passed away on Friday, September 18, 2020 in her home. She was born on January 30, 1941 to James and Ada Johnson in Huntington. She married Curtis Feimster, Sr. in June 1960 and that union produced four children. Curtis Sr. proceeded her in death in February 1997.
Emma’s passion was people, flowers and cooking. Her hands were rarely still. She enjoyed taking care of those in need, tending to her beautiful flowers in her yard, and she was known for her fried chicken and her homemade ice cream. For many years, Emma worked for the State of Arkansas and in her later years worked as a caregiver to those who suffered from Alzheimer’s and dementia. Up until her sickness, she was a faithful member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Smith.
She is survived by one daughter, DeLeesa Meashintubby (Norval) of Eugene, Oregon; two sons, Curtis Feimster, Jr. of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Dwayne Feimster of Huntington; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles E. Johnson (Eileen) of St. Joseph, Missouri; a sister, Alice Vege (Rogelio) of Fort Smith, Arkansas; several nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters and brothers-in-law and numerous friends. She was proceeded in death by her parents, a daughter, Ladonna, four brothers, and one sister. She will be missed by all.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m., Friday, September 25 at Huntington Cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Viewing will be Thursday from 1 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Feimster, Jr., Dwayne Feimster, Rodney Clark, Brandon Meashintubby, Isaiah Meashintubby and Norval Meashintubby.
