Emmet Ray "Sonny" Holman, 80, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed from this life Monday, May 25, 2026. He was a retired dump truck driver who drove for several employers in the Fort Smith and Mansfield areas. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid deer hunter.
Sonny was born on July 1, 1945, to Emmett Earl "Joe" and Monidea Irene (Decker) Holman in Thayer, Missouri. He attended schools in Thayer, later in Dennison, Iowa, and graduated from Mansfield High School in 1966.
He married Linda Sue Fuller of Huntington in 1968. After living in West Plains, Missouri, for almost eight years, they moved back to Arkansas in 1976 and lived in the Greenwood area until they moved to Fort Smith in 2024. Their son, Emmet Stephen, was born in 1981.
Sonny is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda Sue Holman; his son, Emmet Stephen Holman of Fort Smith; his brother, Kenneth Lee Holman of Salem, Arkansas; two nephews, Darren Efurd and Shawn Efurd both of Dayton; two nieces, Michelle Franzen of Little Rock and Lori Grass of Salem and seven great nephews and great nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Carolyn Efurd of Dayton.
Memorial service will be held 10 a.m., Friday, May 29 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood. A visitation with the family will be held Thursday from 5 - 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
