Evelyn Lois Ibison, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024. She was born in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma on March 2, 1934 and was the first born of five children to Clifton and Neta Gibson. Evelyn was a lifelong resident of Hackett, Arkansas where she worked in the home raising six children. She was a wonderful mother and the biggest cheerleader to her grandchildren. She had many friends and was a well loved member of her church and community. In her spare time she loved to crochet, complete crossword puzzles, read, listen to country music, and travel. There is not a travel destination or a Cracker Barrel she didn’t love. In her golden years, she joined a bowling team and looked forward to her weekly line dancing outings. Evelyn touched many lives in her 89 years on this earth and her big heart will be desperately missed.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, Clifton and Neta Gibson; brothers, Jerrold Don Gibson and Jesse Gibson and wife, Patsy; sister, Betty Didway and husband, Alvis; niece, Debbie Didway; ex-husband, Eugene Ibison, who she was married to for 45 years; grandchildren, Brittney Sparks, Jay Tuck, Amanda Nelson, and great grandchild, Devin Hancox.
She is survived by her brother, Clifton Gibson and wife, Lavelle; six children, Eugene Ibison, Rita Ibison, Gail Nelson, Karen Ibison, Mark Ibison and Lois Bonine and husband, Travis; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, February 10 at Hackett First Baptist officiated by Brother Joe Silva. Evelyn will be laid to rest at Mountain View Cemetery in Hackett, Arkansas following the service. Viewing will be Friday from 1-7 p.m. at the McConnell Funeral Home, where the family will visit with friends from 5-7 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Len Montgomery, Geoff Nelson, Shannon Ibison, Mark Ibison, Brent Ibison and Garland Nelson, II. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Riddle, Briar Ibison and Miles Bonine.
