

Ewell Dean Pendergrass “Bub”, 70, of Cedarville, Arkansas passed away Monday, May 30, 2016 in Van Buren, Arkansas. He was born December 24, 1945 in Houston, Texas to Ewell Burl and Mary Laverne (Sharp) Pendergrass. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. Bub worked for the City of Fort Smith for 36 years when he retired in 2010. He was an electronic technician for water and waste water, also, for a time he was a superintendent of traffic control. Bub was adjunct faculty for the University in Camden, Arkansas where he taught classes covering water and waste water. He was president and member of the Arkansas Waste Water Committee. He was included in the Marquis Who’s Who Publications Board for many years. He was Water Operator of the Year and received several appreciation awards. Bub and Linda had LED Communications for 40 years. They had not only customers, but also friends. Bub has a ham radio operator for 56 years. His call sign for many years was WA5AER, but then received call sign W5BUB. He has made contacts over the whole world.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Friday, June 3 at Wesley United Methodist Church with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Viewing will be Thursday from 2 – 8 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home, where the family will visit with friends from 6 – 8 p.m.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Linda Jo Pendergrass; their children, William Dean Pendergrass and wife, Pamela Jane, Douglas Aaron Pendergrass and wife, Teresa, Nagaya Jo Morton and husband, Darel; twelve grandchildren; two uncles, Bill Sharp and Harold Dean Sharp; one aunt, Mary Sharp; his father and mother-in-law, Ted and Betty Williams; sisters-in-law, Doris Reichert and husband, Mike and Jan Riggs and husband, Terry and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Judy Rice and a nephew, Mike Rice.
Pallbearers will be Darel Morton, Scott McBrayer, Keith Pipkins, Brad Hall, David Shelly and Tim Mahan.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Grandchildren.
