It is with deep love and heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Glenda Speigel, who peacefully departed this life on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on April 23, 1951 in Alma, Arkansas, Glenda was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, whose warmth, kindness, and love touched the lives of so many.
Glenda will be remembered for her gentle spirit, loving heart, and the special way she made others feel cared for and appreciated. Whether through quality time with family, road trips to Texas, or making sure everyone received a carefully crafted and performed “Happy Birthday” call, Glenda continuously brought joy and comfort to those around her.
Glenda was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, parents, Glendale Cecil and Irma Faye Cecil, and brother, Butch Cecil. We find comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with those she loved and cherished, and that the bonds of love that connected them in life remain forever in our hearts.
Glenda leaves behind a loving family and many cherished friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts, including husband, Denny Speigel; sisters, Joyce Crespo and Ann Law; brothers, Robert and Donnie Cecil; sons, Augustus Wood and Shawn Speigel, and many loved grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. Her kindness, laughter, wisdom, and unconditional love will continue to live on through the family and friends she leaves behind.
The love Glenda gave so freely will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. Though we deeply mourn her absence, we find comfort in the beautiful memories, lessons, laughter, and love she leaves behind. One of her most cherished moments was when her AC broke down at her home in Hackett. To her great surprise the parts were estimated to be delivered in 3 months. At this news she immediately grabbed her suitcase and began packing for a 3-month long stay-cation in Dallas, Texas. She collected her comfiest stretchy jeans, favorite pair of tennis shoes, and beloved dog, Daisy. She was ecstatic about making her way to Texas and do one of the things she did best, fill rooms with love and laughter over the heart healthy Reese's Peanut Butter Cup paired with a crisp Coke.
As Glenda would always say, “I love you to the moon and back”
A celebration of Glenda’s life will be held 10 a.m., Thursday August 20 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel, located at 137 N Main St. Greenwood, Arkansas 72936.
Following the service on Thursday, family and friends are respectfully invited to join us on Saturday, August 22 at 9:30 a.m. at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd. Dallas, Texas 75228 for a viewing, and as we lay Glenda to rest.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Dale Davis, Jerry Jackson, Wendell Wallace, Katelynn Wood, Emery Speigel and Skylar Speigel.
Rest peacefully, Glenda. You were aboundingly loved, you will be greatly missed, and you will remain forever in our hearts everlasting.
