

Gordon A. Wilson, 86, of Greenwood past away May 25th, 2010 in Fort Smith. He was retired from the newspaper business in Long Beach California. He was a World War II veteran serving in the Canadian military forces.
Gordon was a member of the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, California and faithfully supported the Greenwood United Methodist Church. Coming from a missionary family of 5 children, he was preceded in death by one sister, Grace, one brother, Walter, and a grandson, Bailey Oliver.
Funeral will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 28 at Greenwood United Method Church, with burial at Liberty Cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
He is survived by his loving wife Evelyn; two sons, Gary Wilson and wife Linda from Vancouver Canada, Roger Corbin and wife Carolyn; two daughters, Rhonda Oliver and husband Don, and Sheila Corbin all from Greenwood; one sister, Dorothy Letchford of Georgia and one brother, Paul Wilson of Toronto, Canada. In addition he has 9 grandchildren, Jason Stewart, Ryan Stewart, Krista Carmona, Kevin Wilson, Alexis Corbin, Bradley Oliver, Austin Corbin, Jason Seamans, Jessica Seamans, and 5 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Don Elmore, Phil Bunch, Jeff Bryant, Alan Dodd, Sam Jennings, Jerry Nelson, David Waits and John O’Bar. Honorary pallbearers will be the Joy Sunday school class.
Gordon loved to travel and was known for his gourmet cooking which he had prepared for the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce, his Church, and Habitat for Humanity. He was revered as the “postman” for Pink Bud Nursing Home and Golden Years Village for a number of years. Those who loved him (and everyone loved Gordon) will remember him for his rough, gruff character – hiding a warm and caring heart.

Viewing will be Thursday from 1 – 9 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
