James “Brian” Howes, 42, of Midland, Arkansas passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born December 18, 1978 in West Memphis, Arkansas. He was employed by Carman Inc. as a diesel mechanic and was a United States Army National Guard veteran. He served a tour in Iraq in 2008 with the Bravo Company 217th, and he was a member of Dayton Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Nikki Howes, one son, Xzavier Howes; one daughter, Presleigh Howes of the home and his mother Tommye Howes of Midland, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his father, James Patrick Howes.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Friday, October 15 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Mount Olive Cemetery in Midland. Viewing will be 5 – 7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends.
Pallbearers will be James McKinney, Scott White, James Hood, Jerry Hood, Michael Tolbert and Roderick Fowler. Honorary pallbearers will be Caman Inc. employees and the 217th Bravo Company Army National Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
