James Malvin Newman

James Malvin Newman, 96, of Monroe, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2021 in his home. He was a retired electrician, IBEW Local 700 and a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of World War II.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Monday, February 22 at Monroe First Baptist Church with burial at Monroe Cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.

He is survived by two sons, Gary Newman of Muldrow and Tony Newman and wife, Mary of Pocola; one sister, Wanda F. Peck of Poteau; eight grandchildren, several great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Newman; one daughter, Paula Holt; one brother, Joe Newman and two sisters, Oweta Carroll and Mabel Woods.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
