James Everett Oxford, 83, of Mansfield, Arkansas passed away on September 29th 2026 in Fort Smith, surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 5, 1942 in Hartford, Arkansas to the late Marvin and Matilda (Rogers) Oxford. He was retired from Rowe Sheet Metal in Fort Smith, AR and was a member of James Fork Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia J. Carter.
He enjoyed crappie fishing and listening to bluegrass at Turkey Track. He always had peppermint candy for his grandkids and great grandkids and was always willing to take them on four-wheeler rides. He sometimes had his grandchildren work on projects around the house/land to instill the value of hard work. He will be remembered for working hard to take care of his family. He will be deeply missed and his family will always be grateful for the time they shared with him.
Everett is survived by his wife of 64 years, Velta (Pierce) Oxford and three sons: Darryl Oxford and wife Tammy, Kevin Oxford and wife Teresa, and Stephen Oxford all of Mansfield. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, one brother, Earl Oxford and his wife Gerita, one sister Eva Lois Acoach, several nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 1st from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home in Greenwood.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 2nd at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Coop Prairie Cemetery in Mansfield.
Pallbearers are Derek Morgan, Joshua Oxford, Dalton Oxford, Eddie Jones, Shane Oxford and Jeff Oxford. Honorary pallbearer will be Bobby Johnson.
