Jared Michael Pearson, 36, of Pocola, Oklahoma passed away Monday, May 7, 2018 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Jared was born to Larry and Lynn Pearson on October 12, 1981 in Poteau, Oklahoma. He was raised in Pocola and attended Pocola schools. Jared had a passion for music. He started band in the fifth grade and continued all the way through high school. He continued his love for music in college as well; he played in the band at Westark Community College. After college, Jared stayed involved with different schools in the surrounding areas helping with their band programs. He was a mentor to many students and helped shape their musical talents. Jared’s other passion was helping people and he wanted to pursue his dream through the medical field. He attended Carl Albert State College and completed his CNA license. He received a job at St. Edwards Hospital after graduating. He later moved to Greenwood and began working with the elderly at Pink Bud Nursing Home. Jared enjoyed working with church youth groups in surrounding areas. He also had a passion to work and help with special needs organizations. He had a huge love for animals. He had a big heart and never met a stranger. He decided in late 2016 to get his ordained minister license, so that he could do weddings.
He is survived by his mother, Lynn Pearson of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; his father, Larry Pearson of Greenwood, Arkansas; brother, Jeff Pearson and wife, Ashley of Pocola; grandmother, Joyce Pearson of McAlester, Oklahoma; grandparents, Clifford and Gene Stroud of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; several aunts, uncles and cousins and one niece, Adalynn Pearson of Pocola, Oklahoma. Jared was preceded in death by great grandparents, Earl and Maxine Pearson, Clarence and Ethel Harmon, Emmett and Cora McGill, BD and Opal Stroud; grandpa, Guy Pearson and step-mother, Elaine Pearson.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 12 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with Rev. Heather Beard officiating, cremation will follow. Viewing will be Friday from 1 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 4 – 8 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Chase Carter, Wesley Williams, Josh Clemmer, Randy Sterling and Waco Hill.
