John Wayne Brown (J.B. or Tramp), 71, of Huntington, Arkansas passed away Monday, July 20, 2026 in his home. He was born December 2, 1954 in Strong City, Kansas to James, Sr. and Allene (Graham) Brown.
After graduating from high school and a short stint in the Navy, he headed south for the oil fields. J.B. was a driller and worked for several oil companies and coal mines across the U.S. He was always ready for a road trip, a motorcycle ride, a party or a cold beer. He had a fondness for whiskey, legal or otherwise.
His dream was to owe the IRS a lot of money when he left this earth, but much to his chagrin, he was square with them when he passed.
He wrote poetry, was an avid reader and enjoyed John Wayne movies, The Simpson’s and “Moonshiners”. JB had a big heart, he donated to many organizations and toy runs supporting children.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Brown, Jr. and two sisters, Sharon Hallum and Pat Cripps. He is survived by his brother, Jerry Brown; his sister, Cathy Kramer; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his family of friends, including Henry Comer, Marty and Billie Blanchard, Roy, Tae and Ruby Blanchard, Dominic and Cherokee Blanchard Hartsell, Mike Strozier, Bruce McQueen, Bill Wassinger, Steve Long, Tommy Colbert, all of the Sebastian-LeFlore County area. He is reunited with his oilfield and riding buddies, Mongo, Sporty and Bubba.
Burial and service will take place in Strong City, Kansas. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
