John Hilton Geren, Jr. 82, of Greenwood went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 16, 2018. He was born July 11, 1935. John was a retired Parts Manager for DeWitt Oldsmobile and Mizell Chevrolet. He was a former member of the Sebastian County Mounted Patrol, Charter Member of Vache Grasse Country Club, served on the Greenwood Parks & Recreation Board, and was a greeter at First Baptist Church of Greenwood.
John was an avid sports fan, especially of the Greenwood Bulldogs and Arkansas Razorbacks or any sport or activity his grandchildren were involved in. He was a friendly man who loved to visit with people and was devoted to his faith, family and friends.
John was preceded in death by his first wife, Marilyn Joyce Geren, brother, Michael Geren and parents, John Hilton Sr. & Kathleen Geren. Survivors include wife, Pat; sons, Terry Geren and wife, Rosemary of Ft. Smith, Jeff Geren and wife, Tracey of Ft. Smith, Greg Geren and wife, Cathy of Atlanta, GA, Tim Parker and wife, Jo of Irving, TX, Kevin Parker and wife, Gena of Greenwood; eleven grandchildren, Nathan Parker, Jeremy Geren, Jessica Geren, Megan Geren, Christopher Parker, J.T. Geren, Matt Geren, Seth Parker, Dalton Parker, Maggie Geren and Cody Arnold and ten great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 19 at First Baptist Church Greenwood with burial at Liberty Cemetery in Greenwood under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Viewing will be Wednesday from 2 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 5 – 7 p.m.
Pallbearers will be John’s grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be the Prayer Warrior Sunday School Class.
