A few days past I was picking up plants at Sharum's Garden Center, the spot where I first encountered Josh three years ago.  I employed his planting services on more than one occasion and enjoyed his enthusiasm and sincerity.   A couple of weeks ago I again wanted to recreate a planting that Josh helped me with but a call to his phone announced its closure.   During my visit to the nursery I learned of Josh's passing.  I was stunned, extremely saddened, and at a loss for not knowing of his pain and suffering.  This planting I have now completed, by myself, is a duplicate, a companion to the earlier work Josh and his helpmate installed.  For me, this labor at my age is difficult, exhausting; one week verses one day for a young man.  But this was a labor of tribute to the opportunity to know, briefly, Josh Floyd, and this planting is now, for me and those who inquire, The Josh Floyd Garden, as humble a project as Josh Floyd the man.  Live long enough one encounters special people and one is rewarded  for the special gift of the life of others.  Josh, you should have had the opportunity to live to 100.  I think of all the people who will not know you, and I am sad.   Kristen, I, Susan and Katherine have you in our prayers.  May your guardian angel never for a moment fail to watch over you.

I was disheartened to hear about Josh’s passing. He was one of the first teachers to truly believe in me and there are few words to describe what he truly meant to me and all of his students. He was incredibly talented, kind, Intelligent, and empathetic. He made me feel like I could do anything. He inspired us all with his words of wisdom and was a shoulder to cry on when we all needed him the most. My prayers are with his family and friends. We have lost a good man and I am forever in his debt. He brought so much joy into my life and I am grateful to have met him. Rock on, Mr. Floyd, forever and always.

We are so sorry to learn of Joshuas's passing. He was such a good kid.  Our hearts and prayers go out to his family. 


Josh was such a kind person; he and my daughter Lindsey were friends during jr high and high school.  I am shocked and saddened by this news.  My heart and prayers go out to his family.  

One of the sweetest souls, we went to high school together and he actually took my senior photos when he was dabbling in photography. He seemed to be talented in everything he tried and I loved the way he saw people and his kind nature.

Joshua was a great friend and Uncle to Aiden. He will be missed dearly. 

We will truly miss his energy, and enthusiasm for his work.  God speed and prayers for his family.

Remembering Joshua as the smart, creative entertaining child he was, and the talented young man he became.  Deepest sympathies to his wife, dear friends Vanniel and Ron, and the Floyd Boys and Lisa. Prayers of comfort for you all.

I was privileged to work with Josh at UAFS in the Academy of the Arts department. Josh was so talented and I enjoyed working with him. He loved working with the students and helping them grow. He talked of Kristen and his family in a very loving way, even his animals. He gave me many gardening ideas and loved talking about the subject. I left there in 2016, but I still think of him often during gardening season. My prayers are with the family and friends during this time of loss. I know he will be missed by many. 

Josh was always so passionate about everything he did. Music, photography, and landscaping are only a few things he could talk nonstop for days about. We didn't talk often but when we did he was always so excited about his interests. I will remember his smile as he spoke about all of those things. 

Joshua was a great man, musician, teacher and a friend.  He will be sorely missed by myself and by several of my friends that knew him from education and the arts.  

He and I had talked months ago about funeral plans.  We joked that I am going to be cremated and my wife Linda was going to put my cremains in an hour glass shaped urn, so she could turn me over and put my ash to work for an hour at a time!  He laughed until he snorted at that!
