Born to Edward "Peanut" Harrison and Pauline Harrison, Kathy lived a life defined by kindness, laughter, and quiet generosity. She was, above all else, a devoted mother and an adoring Mimi. If you were lucky enough to know her, you know that her love was unconditional and her support was constant. With her playful, and often goofy, sense of humor, Kathy had a way of lifting your spirits and making you laugh in the moments you needed it the most.
Music was a gift that Kathy loved to share with others. Having grown up in Huntington United Methodist Church, she faithfully served as the church pianist for many years. She also found great joy in teaching piano lessons, patiently helping countless children discover a love of music.
She devoted many years to supporting students, faculty, and staff through her work at Westark Community College/University of Arkansas–Fort Smith. She served as Office Manager for the Business and Industrial Institute at Westark before continuing her career with Plant Operations at UAFS. At the time of her passing, she was doing work she truly loved with Talk Business & Politics.
Kathy is lovingly remembered by her son, Brian Reed and wife, Andrea of Van Buren; her daughter, Tracy Cooper and husband, Jimmy of Fort Smith; her grandson, Andrew Reed and wife, Taylor of Fort Smith; granddaughters, Kaytie Eliasen and husband, Clay of Lowell and Ally Kremer and husband, Justin of Lavaca; four (soon to be five) great-grandchildren; and her brother, Paul Harrison and wife, Peggy of Keller, Texas.
Above all else, Kathy was a mother, Mimi, Great Mimi, sister, and friend who loved with her whole heart. Her encouragement, the lessons she taught, memories she created, and unwavering love are gifts her family will treasure always.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Kathy's honor to the American Lung Association.
