Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 2 at Greenwood First Assembly of God with burial at Dawson Cemetery in Milltown under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Viewing will be 1-8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 4-6 pm.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Joyce Tankersley; his parents, RC (Bob) and Lydia Tankersley; and his faithful companion, his little dog Bogie.

He is survived by his children, Wayne Tankersley and wife Debbie, Donna Kiper and husband Frank, Randall Elmore, Regina Cantrell and husband David, and Dee Brian Tankersley and wife Rachelle; two brothers, Jim Tankersley and wife Sue, Clifton Tankersley and wife Marsha; three sisters, Evelyn Stevenson and husband Ray Joe, Mary McDowell and late husband George, and Judy McKinney and husband Barry; ten grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and lifelong friends John and Barbara Davis.

Pallbearers will be Jacob Kiper, Jesse Elmore, Zach Cantrell, Harley Elmore, Steve Tankersley, and Justin Bobbitt. Honorary pallbearers will be the 188th Fighter Wing.
