Lawre “Sherlett” Myers, 56, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away Thursday, August 17, 2023 at her home. She was born October 21, 1966 in Novato, California. Above all else, Sherlett was a caring wife, mother, sister, and friend who loved nothing more than to spend time with her family. She was a fiercely competitive board game opponent, adventurous-spirited biker and hiker, and a true bibliophile who read more books each week than many people might read in a year.
A passionate educator of 18 years, she was known to many as “Mrs. Myers.” She was a devoted and caring teacher for 15 years and school librarian for 3 years. She loved books, but her love for people was even greater. Her kind personality and contagious laugh brought warmth and joy everywhere she went, and as she transitioned from the classroom to the library she believed that each and every student at the school was now “her student” to celebrate and embolden.
She is survived by her husband, Ed Myers of the home; two sons, Eddie and Andrew Myers; sister, Jami McFeeters; brother, Terry Yost Jr. and her mother, Shirley Yost.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Greenwood and was beloved by her family, friends, coworkers, students, and community.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 22 at the Greenwood High School Performing Arts Center (PAC) under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Viewing and visitation with the family will be Monday from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center. A private family burial will be held at Steep Hill Cemetery.
