Lester S. Black, 93, of Hackett, died Monday, August 16 in Van Buren. He was an ordained minister of the Assembly of God Fellowship, and was preceded in death by his wife, Louise; parents, Ben and Mae Black; one brother, Virgil Black, and two great-grandchildren, Sarah Maddock and Madelyn McCutchan.
He is survived by one daughter, Charlotte McCutchan and husband, James of Plano, Texas; three sons, Glendall Black and wife Marilyn, of Alma, Lenial Black and wife, Judith of Tyler, Texas, and Donald Black and wife, June of Van Buren; two sisters, Pearl Clark of Fort Smith, and Mildred Black of Greenwood; eight grandchildren, Bryan McCutchan , Cynthia McCutchan, Jared Black, Alicia Black, David Black, Lynnette Jennings, Michelle Black, and Denise Maddock, and eight great-grandchildren, Taylor and Aliya McCutchan, Tyler, Austin and Aubrey Jennings, Molly and Dylan Black, and Jaydyn Maddock.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 20 at the Greenwood First Assembly of God Church, with burial at Pleasant Hill Cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
Viewing will be 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be David Black, Jared Black, Art Maddock, Bryan McCutchan, Jim Black, and Roger Rainwater. Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Black, Bill Black, and Shady Grove Men’s Prayer Group.
