Lydia Earlene Carson, 85, of Dayton, died Wednesday, May 16, 2012 in Fort Smith. She was retired from Greenwood Fixtures/Storecraft, a member of the Church of Christ which worships at Dayton, a member of the South Sebastian County Home Extension Club and a 4-H Leader. She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Carson; her parents, L.L. and Rosie Gilliam; two sisters, Wilma Louise Gilliam and Twila Vineyard, and a son-in-law, Jimmy Sloan.
She is survived by one daughter, Sandra Sloan of DeQueen; two sons, Rick Carson and wife, Trisha of Mulberry and Mike Carson and wife, Shelia of Abbott; seven grandsons, James Carson Sloan and wife, Jill, Stephen Sloan and wife, Shiela, Scott Sloan, Garrett Carson and wife, Jessica, Matthew Carson, Jarrod Carson and fiancee, Katelin Thomas, and John Carson, and four great-grandchildren, Taylor Carson, Isaac Carson, Kerwin Sloan and Scout Sloan.
Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, May 19 at the Dayton Church of Christ with burial at Dayton Cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Viewing will be 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be grandsons; James Carson Sloan, Stephen Sloan, Scott Sloan, Garrett Carson, Matthew Carson, Jarrod Carson and John Carson.
