Marlene Slavens, 79, of Huntington, Arkansas passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013 in a Fort Smith retirement facility. She was a retired home economist with the Oklahoma State University Extension Center in Tulsa, OK; a member of and pre-school Sunday school teacher for Winneka Heights Baptist Church in Tulsa.
Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 1, 2013 in the McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood, Arkansas with interment at Huntington Cemetery near Huntington, Arkansas under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home.
Survivors include her husband, Chester of the home; two sons, Charles David Slavens and wife, Nancy, of Tulsa, OK and Rocky Slavens of Huntington; a daughter Velta Troxell of Tulsa; a brother, Carl Holstein and wife, Melba Jo, of Harrison, Arkansas; three grandchildren: Heidi Leatherland, Heather and Benjamin Slavens; and three great grandchildren: Haydn and Malia Leatherland, and Savannah Slavens.
Viewing will be from 1:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, January 31st at the funeral home.
