Marvin Philip Hobbs, 69, of Mansfield, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2023 in Fort Smith. He was born August 9, 1953 in Fort Smith to Orval and Dorothy Hobbs. He was a retired truck driver, a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and attended the Huntington Pentecostal Church. He was also a truck driver instructor at the University of Arkansas Fort Smith, jokingly calling himself “The Professor”.
He is survived by one daughter, Adrienne Daggs and husband, Duane of Greenwood; two sons, Nickie Hobbs and wife, Stephanie of Alma and Masion Hobbs of Gurdon; his longtime companion, Cheryl Hawthorne; one brother, Gary Hobbs and wife, Pam of Fort Smith and four grandchildren, Kelsey and Eddie Daggs, Jaxi Ervin and Marissa Ellis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Hobbs.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 11 at Hartford Memorial Park under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Viewing will be Monday from 1 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 5 – 7 p.m.
