Mary Jane Flaherty, 83, of Charleston, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2024 in Cameron, Oklahoma. She was born July 16, 1941 in Greenwood, Arkansas to Corben Edmond Carter and Georgia Elizabeth (Strozier) Carter. She was a retired CNA and attended Rye Hill Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Richard Herndon of Pocola and Michael Turner of Fort Smith; four daughters, Judith Gates and husband, George W., Mary Herndon and Cora Gavina all of Rock Island and Jamie Primm and husband, Jerry of Fort Smith; one brother, Eddie Carter of Rock Island; two sisters, Shirley Carter of Fort Smith and Sally Carter of Hartford; seventeen grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren, whom she dearly loved. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Rebecca Herndon and two sisters, Cora Porter and Rose Boyster.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, September 3 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery. Viewing will be Tuesday beginning at 10 a.m. until service time.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Gates, Jacob Billy, Pam Risinger, Rob Green, Michael Turner, Tony Fugate and Khristian Brown.
