

Melba Jo Thrift of Greenwood, Arkansas entered into rest Monday, February 20, 2012 at her home with family and friends at her side. She was born January 10, 1930 and was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Thrift, parents, Paul and Clercie Martin and a sister, Donita Martin. Melba was a member of the First Baptist Church of Greenwood and was a devoted mother and grandmother.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M., Friday, February 24, 2012 at the McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with interment at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith.
Survivors include her son, Rick Thrift and wife, Sandy, of Greenwood; a brother, Gerald Martin and wife, Martha, of Waldron, AR; granddaughters, Carrie Curtis and husband, Gary, and Tracy Curry and husband, Gary Don; and five great grandchildren, Haley Townsend, Austin, Collin, and Paige Curry, and Addison Curtis, all of Greenwood. She also leaves behind two special caregivers, Cindy Essman and Lucky.
Viewing will be Thursday, February 23rd from 1:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home where the family will visit with friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
