Michael Lewis Lejong was born January 5, 1972 in Alexandria, Louisiana and passed away Monday, July 19, 2021 in a Fort Smith hospital. Michael graduated from Greenwood High School in 1990 and the University of Arkansas in 1996 with a degree in architecture. Michael made a lasting impression in his community and in his profession on a local, state and national level.
Michael was preceded in death by his mother and father, Arthur and Peggy Lejong, and his brother, Mark Lejong. He is survived by his wife, Katie, daughters, Abbey and Emerson and his sister, Delynn McCash.
However, Michael was given to us to be a husband and a dad. Michael and Katie married in September 1996 and wasted no time starting their family. His love and pride in his girls, Abbey and Emerson, outshined the sun. He loved and was loved by so many and will be deeply missed, but his impact in this earthly world will remain and carry on in the structures he built and in all of us who had the great privilege to know him.
Michael was involved in many professional and community organizations and received various awards. We are working to build a list of these accomplishments and will post those on his Facebook page. Please continue to send him messages and tag him in your posts. Reading these thoughts and memories has been a blessing to the family.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Friday, July 23 at the Greenwood Performing Arts Center with burial at Liberty Cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Viewing will be Thursday from 2 – 7 p.m. at the Greenwood Performing Arts Center, where the family will visit with friends from 5 – 7 p.m. There will be a reception immediately following the service at the Ed Wilkinson Community Pavilion at Bell Park.
Pallbearers will be Travis Bartlett, Stewart Bryan, Brady Spencer, Galen Hunter, Cory Thomas, Garrett Smith and Ken Cox.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Greenwood Education Foundation, 501 Bulldog Loop, Greenwood, AR 72936, in honor of Michael for a scholarship fund.
