Michael was a nature lover and avid gardener who shared his bountiful harvest with his friends and neighbors. He could easily diagnose plant problems and tell you what to add to the soil or change in the habitat to improve the health of your plants.
Michael was a life-long learner and bibliophile who particularly loved books on theology, spirituality, science and, occasionally a western. He often shared his books, and his knowledge, with his friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Miriam Mansfield Maginnis, sisters, Ann Seidman, Patricia Maginnis, Catherine Alexander, and Jane Bloom and a brother, Francis (Frank).
He is survived by his sister, Charlotte Palmer and brother, Paul (Linda) Maginnis and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his dear friends and neighbors, Larry and Madge Peugh, and his more recent friends and neighbors, Rex Martin and the rest of the Heritage Village community in Barling.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of St. Leo Catholic Church in Hartford.
Rosary is scheduled for 11:00 at St. Leo, (101 Locust Street), followed by Funeral Mass at 11:30 on Sunday, June 25. The inurnment will be at the National Cemetery in Fort Smith on Monday, June 26, at 10:00.
