Michael William Sayers, Jr., 57, of Greenwood, Arkansas peacefully passed away Sunday, January 26, 2025 in the presence of family in his home. He was born March 22, 1967 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Michael William, Sr. and Anne Marie (Burns) Sayers. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, NEMA Motors IS Manager for ABB, past president and member of the Western Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma Beekeepers Association, and Scout Master for Cub Scout Pack 54. He was a Eucharistic Minister and member of Saint Sabina and Mary Catholic Church in Jenny Lind, and attended Greenwood First Baptist Church. He and his wife housed three Switzerland boys, Robin Niederberger, Sandro Regli, and Janik Keller through the ABB Apprenticeship Abroad program. Michael was always sporting colorful HOKA tennis shoes, loving on his two dogs, a YETI and Beanie Baby collector, and enjoyed traveling the world.
He is survived by his wife, Malynda Sayers; two sons, Jacob Sayers and spouse, Megan, of Fayetteville, AR and Garrett Sayers and spouse, Levi, of Lewisville, TX; his mother, Anne Sayers of Fort Smith, AR; two brothers, Howard “Scooter” Sayers and spouse, Sheila, of Gainesville, GA and Matt Sayers and spouse, Samantha, of Fort Smith, AR; one sister, Robin Matthews and spouse, J.R. Ramirez, of Tulsa, OK and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Michael William Sayers, Sr.
Funeral mass will be 10 a.m., Thursday, January 30, at Immaculate Conception Church in Fort Smith under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Burial with military honors will follow the funeral mass at the Fort Smith National Cemetery. A visitation will be held 5 – 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 29, at the funeral home; rosary to be included.
Honorary pallbearers are Tim Smith, Greg Beshears, Larry Corkern, James Bailey, Keith Pschier and Kevin Pschier.
