

Myles Darrell Coatney, 76, of Greenwood went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, December 26, 2013 at Peachtree Hospice in Fort Smith. He was born July 9, 1937 in Ft. Smith to the late Calvin and Margaret Coatney.
Darrell was a former U.S. Marine and worked 37 years at Rheem Manufacturing from the time of its opening, before retiring at the age of 68. He was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Greenwood and had a passion for the game of baseball. He coached Little League teams in Greenwood and enjoyed traveling to support his son and grandsons throughout their college and professional baseball careers.
A memorial service will be held at the First Freewill Baptist Church on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Peachtree Hospice, 2910 Jenny Lind Rd., Suite 4, Fort Smith, AR 72901.
Darrell is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Georgia Helms Coatney; a son, Rick Coatney and his wife Arline of Ft. Smith; a daughter, Teresa Ledbetter and her husband Curt of Rogers; 7 grandchildren: Brooks Coatney and wife, Amie of Alma; Holly Elarbee and husband, Glen of Houston; Justin Cook of Denver, Colorado; Alex Harris and wife, Crystal of Ft. Smith; Aaron Ledbetter and wife, Elizabeth of Rogers; Justin Ledbetter and wife, Alicia of Rogers; Page Mize and husband, Andrew of Fayetteville; and 7 great-grandchildren: Cruz, Cali, and Crosby Coatney, Griffin Elarbee, Annslee Ledbetter, Jaxon Ledbetter, and Pierson Mize.
