Neva Laverne Martin

Neva Laverne “Granny” Martin, 74, of Fort Smith, Arkansas went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, March 16, 2011 in Fort Smith. She was born October 24, 1936 in Hartford, Arkansas to Thomas and Hilda Payton. She was a member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church and volunteered with Grand Avenue Baptist Helping Hand Ministry, she was a homemaker and retired furniture factory worker.

Funeral service will be 3 pm Friday, March 18, 2011 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Hartford Memorial Park under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home. Viewing will be Thursday from 1 – 9 pm at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6 – 8 pm.

She is survived by one daughter, Kay Dickson of Fort Smith; one son, David Martin and wife, Carla of Mansfield; one sister, Joyce Morrison of Fresno, CA; two brothers, Harold Payton and wife, Betty and Lee Payton and wife, Bobbie both of Fort Smith; one granddaughter, Katy Pullen and husband, Joe of Appleton, WI; four grandsons, Scot Dickson and wife, Lisa of Scott Air Force Base, IL, Jordan Martin and wife, Susan of Fort Smith, Clayton Martin and fiancée Tarynne Miller of Mansfield and Logan Martin of Mansfield and five great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Phil Payton, Steve Payton, Jordan Martin, Clayton Martin, Logan Martin and Joe Pullen.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Helping Hands Ministry at Grand Avenue Baptist Church, 3900 Grand Ave., Fort Smith, AR 72904.
