He is survived by his wife, Jackie Short Garrett, and children, Brett Short of the home, Stacie Dyer Savage of Alma, AR, David Garrett of Fayetteville, Chrissy Popovits of Flint, MI, Tommy Short of Booneville and Tamara Short Smith (deceased) of Bentonville, AR; his sister, Jan Walrod of Fort Smith; grandchildren, Kyle Reinhart, Trey, Darian, Garrett, Martin, and Daniel Dyer, Lucas Garrett, Lauren, Evie and Ben Popovits, Tara Witten, Liz Magill, Ali Smith Krum, Toni Catlett, Toby Short, Peyton and Abby Short, as well as twelve great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.
Paul was a 1959 graduate of Fort Smith High School and a 1963 graduate of the University of Arkansas. His lifelong career was in sales with Campbell’s, Colgate-Palmolive, Arkansas Best and various real estate companies. He was a lender at Superior Federal Credit Union. His hobbies were golfing, fly fishing and painting. He was an avid Arkansas Razorback and St. Louis Cardinals fan. (He even has his own brick at Busch Stadium.) He attended Grace Community Church in Fort Smith.
Paul was a kind and gentle man, much loved by many.
