.Randy Eugene Samo, a maintenance mechanic and red-blooded Arkansan, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday August 1, 2021, at the age of 61. Randy is survived by his wife, Michelle Samo (Nichols); his children, Ryan Samo, Christopher Samo and Rosie Samo; his parents, David and Joyce Samo; and his sister Vicki Signor (Samo). He was preceded in death by his daughter, Miranda Samo.
Randy was born in Des Moines, IA on October 1, 1959 to David and Joyce Samo. He graduated from Des Moines Technical High School in 1978, placing him on a path to become a world-class master mechanic over his 40 plus years in the workforce. On August 24, 1980, he married the love of his life, Michelle. On August 4, 1983, he welcomed his son Ryan, on January 23, 1986, he welcomed his daughter Miranda, and in 1993, he welcomed his son Christopher and daughter Rosie, all of whom were the most important part of his life.
Randy was a loving husband and devoted father. He enjoyed family above all else, but occasionally took some time for himself to play a round of golf or wet a worm in the pond. He enjoyed turning wrenches with his day shop buddies, rooting for the Greenwood Bulldogs on Friday nights, and being frustrated at the Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturdays. He always looked forward to the annual Samo family fishing trip in Clear Lake, IA and began counting down the days to next year right afterwards. He is the most generous person you’d ever meet, never met a stranger, and was an example of a truly great man. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.
Visitation/small memorial service is scheduled from 5 – 7 p.m. on Friday, August 6 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood, Arkansas.
